His sports director Walter Sabatini told the daily newspaper “La Repubblica”: “Ribéry has received an automatic contract extension and wants to play.” The striker’s contract had been extended by a year to June 2023 as Salernitana narrowly held the class in a thrilling season finale.
Ribéry was signed in Salerno south of Naples last summer after his time at Fiorentina. His first season at the new club did not go as hoped: the veteran was often injured or injured and only started 16 times. He didn’t score. In April 2023 he will be 40 years old.
