Prof College of Europe in Bruges inactive after complaints…

A group of six former employees and students wrote a letter to Federica Mogherini, the rector of the college. In the letter they call for the professor’s dismissal. This follows several allegations of sexual harassment in recent years.

Four female former students also shared emails that they say show inappropriate contact from the professor. The complaint at the center of the investigation comes from a twenty-year-old student who emailed with him for several months last year.

Mogherini has already entered into discussions with the professor in question, who has close ties to EU politics. He has since temporarily stepped down from his position in Bruges, but continues to work at other institutions. “I apply a rule for myself not to speak about the case before the procedure is over,” he responds. The College of Europe does not wish to comment on the ongoing investigation.
