Johan Derksen does not allow himself to be pressured by the Private and refuses to really stir Bas Nijhuis’s shit. “That doesn’t mean we have to stick to it!”
Private boss Evert Santegoeds has warned that if Bas Nijhuis does not provide a satisfactory response to his private misery during his next appearance in Today Inside, another scandal article about him will appear. He therefore advises the men of Today Inside a strong interrogation, but will that happen?
Whistleblower
Johan Derksen is annoyed by these comments from Evert. “So they have heard that our referee is going to sit here again, Bassie, and he has done some unwise things in life, that is possible. He denies that himself, but in any case: a whistleblower told Privé that and Privé published it.”
He continues in Today Inside: “And they think we haven’t tackled Bas hard enough, so we get one last chance. We have to do that now and if Bas doesn’t come up with a good story, he will get another story in Privé and then all the shit will be repeated again. But everyone makes their own program, right.”
Pot of shit
It is Evert’s job, but Johan does not participate in it. “I understand that if you are editor-in-chief of a magazine like Privé, then yes, these are interesting topics, but that does not mean that we have to stick to them. I decide for myself whether I am going to stir the pot of shit in someone’s private life and Bas decides whether he wants to talk about his private world.”
Albert Verlinde: “And the Private decides whether they do that. They think: hey, something is happening.”
Johan: “But don’t force us to do things like that!”
Theo Maassen
Wilfred Genee does not think Bas’ misconduct is serious enough for a TV inquisition. “The essence of course is: suppose there had been something involving child abuse or inappropriate behavior, then it is a topic that may need to be discussed, because then we all discuss those kinds of things. We also have Theo Maassen…”
Albert: “That’s not true, because when Theo Maassen had that domestic violence, you didn’t want to talk about it, did you?”
Unclear
Yes, Wilfred responds. Only they don’t plan to do that at Bas. He invented the adoption of Romanian children to maintain his double life, but according to Wilfred, that is really of a different order than the Theo Maassen case.
It is currently unclear exactly when Bas will join VI again. He is reportedly waiting for Evert’s holiday.
