Prison sentence but no professional ban for teacher (54) of primary school in Ichtegem after assault on eleven students: “No indications of pedophilia”

The criminal court of Bruges has sentenced a 54-year-old teacher from Lichtervelde in West Flanders to a suspended prison sentence of ten months. He was accused of assaulting eleven students at De Schatkist primary school in Ichtegem and the court now deemed the facts proven. However, the fifty-year-old was not deprived of the right to participate in the education of minors. “That would not be proportionate here.”
