Princess Madeleine bent to her husband’s will – But soon everything will change

Madeleine, celebrating her 41st birthday, returns home.

Princess Madeleine, full name Madeleine Thérèse Amelie Josephine, was born on June 10, 1982.

The youngest child of Sweden’s King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia is the Duchess of both Hälsingland and Gästrikland.

In recent years, representation in the country of birth has been less, however, as Madeleine and her family have lived in the United States.

Behind Rapako

In June 2013, Madeleine, who earned merit as a party princess even at a younger age, married a British-American by Christopher O’Neill with.

Love had flown in New York, where the princess escaped media attention after breaking up with her traitorous engagement From Jonas Bergström in the spring of 2010. Madeleine worked in New York at the World Childhood Foundation, a charity founded by Silvia.

Madeleine and Chris met at dinners organized by mutual friends. Just a few months after they started dating, Chris was introduced to his future royal in-laws in Sweden.

However, the couple was allowed to date in peace, as the relationship did not become public until months later, when a Spanish tourist photographed the lovers at brunch in New York.

Chris’ will

After going out into the world, Madeleine has not returned to Sweden, except for small trips.

In February 2012, she and Chris moved under the same roof in New York.

The first daughter, Princess Leonore, was born in February 2014 in the United States. The second child, Prince Nicolas, was born in June 2015 in Stockholm, but soon after that the family moved to London, where Chris was already working.

– Coming to Sweden was only temporary. The plan was originally that we would live in London, but then the birth came and we decided to be in Sweden for a while, Chris commented on behalf of his family at the time.

– Me and Madeleine have decided that we will live in London, where I will do my work. I don’t want to come alone to a hotel room in the evening, I want to have dinner at home with my family. Nothing else is important. It’s me who brings the bread to the table. I have to think about my family first, Chris continued.

The third child, Princess Adrienne, was born in March 2018. The family moved to Florida that same year.

Sun and thieves

Living in the United States has suited Madeleine well, as she has been able to handle her work at the World Childhood Foundation from there. Chris still hasn’t had a cold in Sweden either.

Florida offers a warm climate and plenty of activities for families with children. Chris also owns a summer house in West Palm Beach, just a fifteen-minute drive from Donald Trump’s luxurious Mar-A-Lago estate.

However, living under the Florida sun has not been all happiness and bliss.

The family’s home in Miami, in the affluent Pinecrest neighborhood, was burglarized.

Among other things, Vorot took wristwatches from O’Neill’s Rolex collection and a safe was found thrown into the courtyard swimming pool. Madeleine was said to have felt unsafe after the burglary.

In the eye of the storm

The family moved to another luxury villa. There, too, Madeleine and Chris have asked the police for help numerous times. The villa was thoroughly inspected before moving in and the couple has purchased additional support to secure the home.

According to Expressen’s data from last spring, the authorities had already visited the villa more than a hundred times. Security visits, or so-called “guard orders”, had taken place regularly since the summer of 2020.

In addition to the feeling of insecurity, natural forces have also tested Madeleine’s family in Florida.

Last fall, hurricane Ian shook the region. The electricity went out and the world was flooded. More than two million people were evacuated in Ian’s path.

– Our thoughts and prayers are now with those who have experienced the devastation of Hurricane Ian. Please be kind and participate in helping, I will too. There are several charities, Madeleine appealed to her Instagram followers.

Return to Sweden

Soon, however, everything changes. The family will move to Sweden in August and settle in Stockholm’s Östermalm in the same house where Madeleine lived before.

Leonore and Nicolas go to school in Sweden, Adrienne to preschool. The change is quite big for the children, because they are used to going to school in English in America.

However, the biggest change will be for Chris.

So far, he hasn’t been caught posing next to his wife in royal kilts. For some occasions, Chris has even missed everything – for example, the christening of his two oldest children.

– Being the spouse of a princess is sometimes exhausting and makes life more complicated, Chris has stated, among other things.

A man can manage his business from anywhere, but in Sweden he is subject to significantly more media attention than in the United States.

Criticism for Chris

Chris has been criticized, among other things, for not being interested in the title of prince, but the benefits are worth it. For example, Chris uses the royal transport service to and from the airport – at the expense of taxpayers.

Chris has also connected his wife to his business. In 2014, it was reported that Madeleine owns five percent of Chris’s three companies. This caused an uproar in Sweden, as some legal experts were of the opinion that such transactions are not suitable for a member of the court.

One way or another, the family is now settling in Sweden. The reason is also practical: according to Swedish law, the children of the royal family must go to school in Sweden in order to keep their place in the succession to the crown.

Homesick

Leonore is currently ninth in the line of succession to Crown Princess Victoria and her children, Princess Estelle and Prince Oscar. Carl Philip’s and his children, the prince Alexander’sa prince Gabriel’s and the prince Julian’sand after his mother.

King Kaarle Kustaa decided in the fall of 2019 that Madeleine’s children no longer have the rights of members of the royal family and they will not participate in court representation duties in the future. They still get to keep their title and crown succession.

It has been said that Madeleine wanted her children to have a Swedish upbringing. The princess is also known to be homesick.

But how Chris adapts to his wife’s country of birth remains to be seen.
