A car belonging to Princess Diana, who died in 1997, will soon be auctioned in England. It concerns a black Jaguar XJ40 Sovereign, which was used by King Charles’ ex-wife from 1994 to 1997. The copy is expected to fetch 100,000 pounds, the equivalent of around 115,000 euros.
The Jaguar will be auctioned on June 1 by The Market auction house in South Oxfordshire. Director Mark Livesey believes the car could fetch more than its estimated value because it is a former royal family asset.
“Owning something that belonged to them definitely adds enormous value,” he told the BBC. The auction house previously auctioned cars belonging to Britain’s Queen Elizabeth, singer George Michael and actor Sean Connery.

The Jaguar has 72,000 kilometers on the odometer, the late Princess Diana was taken to many official obligations by car. One of those appointments was her visit to the Serpentine Gallery in London on June 29, 1994, the day that the then Prince Charles confessed to his adultery with Camilla Parker Bowles in a television interview. During her visit, the princess wore a low-cut black dress, which is still known as the revenge dress.
