Prime Minister Rutte visits the Republic of Korea and is with Minister Kaag at the G20 in Bali | News item

Prime Minister Rutte and Finance Minister Kaag will participate in the G20 summit in Bali, Indonesia on Tuesday 15 and Wednesday 16 November 2022. The Prime Minister will then visit the Republic of Korea (South Korea) on Thursday 17 November.

At the G20 summit, in which the Netherlands is participating at the invitation of the current G20 president Indonesia, the world’s largest economies discuss a range of topics related to issues such as financial stability, economic growth and development. The Indonesian presidency focuses on food and energy security, health and digital transformation under the theme ‘Recover Together, Recover Stronger‘.

Following the G20 summit, the Prime Minister will travel to the Republic of Korea. The visit on Thursday 17 November starts with a meeting with students from Hanyang University in Seoul and a tour of an EUV (Extreme Ultraviolet) lab. Subsequently, Prime Minister Rutte will have a working lunch with both Dutch and South Korean experts in the field of (regional) geopolitics and security policy. After lunch, the reopening of the renovated Dutch embassy in Seoul is on the agenda.

In the afternoon, the Prime Minister is received by President Yoon Suk-yeol of the Republic of Korea. During the meeting, they will discuss, among other things, broadening bilateral political ties and strengthening good cooperation in the field of economic security and resilience. They also have a joint meeting with the business community.
