Prime Minister Rutte will attend the annual Benelux summit on Monday, November 28, 2022. Due to the Luxembourg presidency of the Benelux Committee of Ministers (CvM), this year’s summit will take place in Bourglinster Castle in Luxembourg.

The summit will focus, among other things, on regional cooperation between the Benelux (BNL) and North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW) and the Grande Région. The Grande Région is a partnership of Luxembourg, Wallonia, the Fédération Wallonie-Bruxelles, the German-speaking Community of Belgium, Lorraine (French region of the Grand Est), Rhineland-Palatinate and Saarland.

The summit starts with a conversation between Prime Minister Rutte, Prime Minister De Croo of Belgium and Prime Minister Bettel of Luxembourg. They will speak, among other things, about the war in Ukraine and current European topics, such as migration. Subsequently, there will be a working session with the College of the Benelux Union, which will include the presidency, which the Netherlands will take over from Luxembourg on 1 January 2023, on the agenda.

This is followed by a working session with Minister-President Wüst of North Rhine-Westphalia and President Rottner of Grand-Est, who is also chairman of the Grande Région partnership.

The summit will be concluded with a dinner.
