Primatologist Jane Goodall gets Barbie doll | Abroad

dr. Jane Goodall has from Mattel, Inc. got her own Barbie doll as part of the ‘Inspiring Women’ series. The British Dr. Goodall is considered the foremost expert on chimpanzees and is a well-known primatologist.

Released in collaboration with the Jane Goodall Institute, the new doll is carbon neutral and made from recycled plastic that was on its way to end up in the sea. It is an ode to her work as a conservationist. The doll costs 35 pounds (41.39 euros).

Also included as an accessory with the doll is a model of chimpanzee David Greybeard, a primate that Jane Goodall studied during her first groundbreaking research on emotion and communication in animals. It comes just in time for World Chimpanzee Day this Thursday.

Inspiration

“I love working with Barbie and encouraging young children to learn from their environment,” said Dr. Goodall, now 88 years old. “All my career I wanted to inspire children to be curious and discover the world around them, just like I did when I traveled to Tanzania 62 years ago.”

“Through this partnership, I hope to inspire the next generation of eco-leaders to join me in protecting the planet and remind them that they can be anything, anywhere – in the field, in the lab, and at the table.” .
