Clinton Brink (43) and Cristen Brink (41) were walking last week with their daughters aged 7 and 9 years old in the popular Staatspark Devil’s den State, when they were suddenly attacked and stabbed to death by a man.
Hiking couple (43 and 41) killed with children in Devil’s Den: ‘They protected their daughters’
Their children raised the alarm, on which agents found the bodies of the couple on a remote hiking trail. The police started a manhunt on the plug and spread investigative photos.
Wednesday, a few days after the murder, the police found the suspect in a hair salon in Springdale, about 50 kilometers from Devil’s den State. McGann hardly responded when agents stormed the salon.
“He looked soulless,” Hairders Adriana Ruiz Avalos told the American channel News Nation. “His eyes had fallen very deeply when he was sitting in the chair. I immediately felt that something was wrong.”
Motif unknown
Nothing is known about a motive. Justice suspects that McGann did not know his victims and chose randomly. He taught at several primary schools in the United States. In 2023 he was put on non-active by a school in Oklahoma due to supposed unprofessional behavior. The school could not find any evidence for this, but he resigned himself. This year McGann would teach at a school in Arkansas.
On Friday, McGann first appeared in court. He has not been convicted before.
