Primary school representative: Wiersma sets an example

The PO-Raad, representing schools in primary and special education, points out that education minister Dennis Wiersma has an exemplary function, “just like every administrator in education”. The council thus responds to the news that there are signs of pressure under Wiersma’s leadership.

A spokesperson for the PO Council calls it “good that the minister has recognized the problem and has started working with it”.

During the first period of his ministry, Wiersma was sometimes sharp and fierce against his officials, his spokesperson acknowledges after reporting in De Telegraaf on Friday. He does not make explicit how this pressure was exerted. The newspaper writes based on anonymous sources that the minister shouted and slammed doors. The PO Council calls it “brave and rightly so that civil servants have raised it”.

Both the General Education Union and the VO council, representing secondary schools, do not want to respond to the news on Friday.
