Irish discount clothing retailer Primark has launched a special breast cancer collection, designed and developed in partnership with the charity Breast Cancer Now and people affected by breast cancer.

The 28 piece collection is the second collection from Primark and Breast Cancer Now and includes casual wear, lingerie, nightwear and accessories such as hoodies, t-shirts and cami tops, briefs, nightwear and accessories such as slippers and socks.

The permanent Breast Cancer Awareness collection also includes post-surgery bras that feature product innovations and Cool Max technology to relieve issues such as tightness, swelling and hot flashes that many women experience during treatment, recovery and can occur after surgery.

This year’s range also includes a top post-op bralette, after research has shown that many women want to look and feel good even during breast cancer treatment and recovery.

Alongside the collection, Primark is donating £750,000 to charity as part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month to raise awareness, fund research and support the services of cancer charities in Europe, the UK and the US.

The retailer has also launched a real-life story campaign to highlight the impact of breast cancer on relationships, self-confidence and body image.

“We want to support and empower women, whatever life brings. Cancer affects so many of us and we are truly proud to use our size to raise awareness, raise vital donations and support services for people affected by cancer,” said Ann-Marie Cregan, Chief Commerce Officer at Primark, in a statement.

“We listen to our colleagues, customers and other organizations and offer women the products they need at every stage of their lives. We know that specialty products like these are not always accessible or affordable for everyone and we want to change that by bringing high quality, comfortable, functional and good looking products to as many women as possible at the best value for money in stores ‘ adds Cregan.

In the UK and Ireland, Primark has also launched a fundraiser where customers can donate one pound/euro (or any multiple of that value) at the checkout in all stores. UK customer donations are split equally between Breast Cancer Now, Cancer Research UK and The Christie Charitable Fund. In Ireland, the donations go to the Irish Cancer Society and in Germany to the German Cancer Aid.

The collection is available now. Prices range from 4.50 euros for a two-pack of socks to 17 euros for a long jacket.
