The case against car dealer Theo E. from Gasteren and former Jumbo CEO Frits van Eerd is scheduled for January 27. It is a management hearing about the course of the investigation and what else is needed. The case will not yet be substantively dealt with.

E. is suspected of corruption, forgery and tax fraud. The former CEO of Jumbo is also guilty of corruption, forgery and money laundering, according to the Public Prosecution Service (OM).

Both men know each other from the motocross world. According to the Public Prosecution Service, sponsorship invoices have been falsified. Under the guise of sponsorship, Van Eerd’s private publications have been kept off the books. According to the Public Prosecution Service, this also applies to gifts such as dirt bikes and expensive tools.

During an earlier introductory hearing, it emerged that E. wanted to expedite his case through process agreements with the Public Prosecution Service. A spokesperson for the Public Prosecution Service recently announced that no agreement had been reached. This will be discussed during the preliminary hearing at the end of January and what more is needed to get the matter moving smoothly. The substantive treatment of these cases will not take place until next summer at the earliest.

A week and a half later, on February 6, a fatal relationship conflict is on the agenda. Hans H. (56), from Schoonebeek, is suspected of killing his ex-partner Tonny (53) at the De Kameleon daycare center in Hardenberg. He then stabbed himself in the stomach several times, but survived. According to the Public Prosecution Service, H. tried to set fire to himself and his ex-partner’s home last May.
