MAGDEBURG (dpa-AFX) – “People’s Voice” on the debate about Merz:

“It’s not difficult to recognize that Merz is overwhelmed by his task. But wanting to replace the Chancellor in the middle of the most difficult reform phase would mean breaking up the black-red coalition and provoking new elections. Given the nationwide upswing for the AfD, that would mean transferring the situation before the state elections in Saxony-Anhalt and Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania to the federal level. After the eastern elections, however “All the cards are reshuffled – right up to the substitution of Merz. Who would be the trump card that could then come out on top for the Union? Apart from Hendrik Wüst, there’s not much to see.”/DP/jha
