Hans-Joachim Watzke sees himself exposed to a lubricating campaign in the power struggle for the presidency at Borussia Dortmund. He apparently wants to foresee a martial candidate.
“An attempt has been made for a few weeks to make a caricature out of me. It was not that for 20 years,” said the chairman of the management on Friday at his 21st and last balance sheet press conference. If he is not chosen by the election committee himself, but incumbent Reinhold Lunow as a candidate, he withdraws his candidacy.
According to the articles of association, the President will be elected for three years at the general meeting “at the proposal of the election committee” for three years. The committee will probably name Watzke, not the incumbent Lunow. If the candidate does not find a majority, the proposal can be changed. If this does not bring a majority, would be chosen in a theoretical third, open ballot without proposal by the election committee, that is, if necessary, in “fighting vote”.
Managing Director Cramer on the side
Watzke sees himself discredited in advance, he has Carsten Cramer at his side. It is “bitter and unbearable”, as Watzke’s integrity is recently questioned, the managing director said. There had been a compliance process against Watzke – with the result that an anonymous accusation that he had wrongly billed flights. This and pierces to the press, said Cramer, “we have never experienced it that way”. He fears that the situation damage the club.
Watzke personally looked back without great melancholy. He “does not feel goodbye, but a feeling of gratitude to sit here. We were always able to rely on each other. There is also a feeling of relief not to have to make a decision anymore.” Watzke eliminates the management of the KGAA management.
