It is still quiet around the De Wenning meeting center in Pesse. But if the omens don’t deceive, it will be teeming with people tonight. Because the presale for the performance of farmer’s rock band Kleur on May 31 in Pesse starts at 8 p.m.

It is anything but self-evident that Normal will stir up the village with their music. Although the musicians have performed in Pesse fifteen times before, the last time was ten years ago.

“We are very happy that we managed to get them,” says Jack Reinders, co-organizer of the Pesse Music Weekend, which is scheduled for a week earlier on May 23 and 24. “We have been trying for years, but we always received no response. But now Normal said: we are going to do it.”

The Achterhoek farmer’s rock band figuratively blew De Wenning away for the first time in 1977. That was also the year in which Oerend Hard was released. In 1978 and 1981, leader Bennie Jolink and associates returned to play in the party tent because the village hall was too small.

In 2003, the band was booked by Stichting Muziek 2000 for a performance in the potato barn on the Ruinerweg. The Campaign then took place continuously from Normal to 2015 (with 1 gap year) in the large party tent on the Pesserveldveld.

From tonight 8 p.m., fans of Normal can secure a ticket for the performance at the end of May. “I certainly expect it to be busy,” says Reinders. “This is evident from all the responses and emails we have received. The line is getting long, which is why there are also parking attendants to ensure everything runs smoothly. The village hall itself has arranged for an Achterhoek band that will play songs from Standaard. That will certainly be the case. Nice.”

To ensure that you can come to the performance with your tractor on May 31, Reinders advises you to get to the box office on time tonight. “I would definitely be at De Wenning at 7 p.m. Follow the signs, because it is one-way traffic. It will be really busy. I expect at least a thousand people.”

Normal has an extra reason to go crazy in Pesse: the band has been around for fifty years. The Music 2000 Foundation from Pesse was founded 25 years ago.
