J., among others, appeared on the red carpet in Kortrijkan Hammenecker, Marijke Pinoy, Peter Bulckaen, Zouzou Ben Chicha, Robin Keyaert and Thibaud Dooms. The latter is known to the general public from the films Skunk and Zeevonk.
The film depicts how a company finds itself in free fall on the eve of judicial arrests, after an American business magazine reveals accounting fraud. Fifteen thousand small investors lose their money. The similarities with Lernout & Hauspie are striking, although the makers do not want to explicitly confirm this.
“It started there somewhere, but we have become very far away from it,” says screenwriter Angelo Tijssens.
Also an actor Jan Hammenecker refers to the spirit of the times. “There was such an atmosphere in Flanders: we are going to make it. We are going to get out of that clay. We are going to make Flanders a rich region. And everyone is going to benefit from it.”
