The Munich-based fashion label Maison Common is taking the next step just in time for its tenth anniversary: On October 11, the brand will open its first store in its hometown. The company chose the traditional Hotel Bayerischer Hof in the center of Munich as the location. This is “exactly the right setting for the flagship of our international ‘Happy Luxury’ brand, which is deeply rooted in Bavaria,” the fashion brand said in a statement on Monday.

Designer Rieke Common, who before founding her own label had designed for the fashion houses Oscar de la Renta and Rena Lange, emphasized that her company would continue to refuse “growth at any price” despite the impending store opening. “From Maison you can expect the ‘100 percent handmade in Europe, 90 percent in our Bavarian neighborhood’ claim,” she said in a statement. The brand’s own idea of ”Happy Luxury” is “ultimately based on curating and preserving a unique culture of craftsmanship here, in France and Italy,” says Common.
