December with Premier Padel, January with Padel Trend Expo: Milan is ready to live two months as the capital of the “padel”. And to drag the Lombard movement, which has been growing rapidly for some years now.

events

The “Galacticos” Lebron-Galan, the “Superpibes” Di Nenno-Stupaczuk, the number one in the ranking Coello-Tapia, the legend Belasteguin and the queens Josemaria-Sanchez: they are the most illustrious signatures of the Milano Premier Padel P1, super-tournament which will be staged at the Allianz Cloud from 4 to 10 December. An unparalleled show for fans, who already showed their appreciation last year by storming up for the available tickets. Then, when 2023 is over and we enter the new year, Milan will return to “padelization” with the second edition of Padel Trend Expo. The event is scheduled from 19 to 21 January 2024, within the Fiera Milano City. Last year it was sold out, involving more than 100 exhibitors and over 18 thousand visitors who tried the technical material of the top brand and had the opportunity to participate in clinics with coaches of the caliber of Martin Echegaray, Marcela Ferrari, Maxi Castellote and Gustavo Spector. It will be repeated in less than two months, with an eye also on the tourism sector: in addition to clubs and sports clubs, there are in fact many operators who have inserted padel courts within their accommodation facilities or even on board their cruise ships.

All in a context, the Lombard one and more generally the Italian one, which smiles at the world of padel in an increasingly evident way. According to the “Mister Padel Paddle” Observatory on the discipline, at the end of September 2023 – compared to the data at the end of December 2022 – Italy saw an increase in structures (sports clubs, padel clubs) of 16%: from 2,792 to 3,250. For the fields the increase was 20%: from 7,128 to 8,520. 38% of padel courts are indoors: 3,214 courts distributed across 1,132 sports centers equipped with covers. The average number of fields per single structure is 2.6. And there are 1,489 Italian municipalities with the presence of at least one facility in which to play (19% of all municipalities in Italy). In the period January/September 2023, the region that had the highest number of installations of fields and structures was Lombardy (32%, with 277 fields and 71 structures), development was also good in Campania (30%) and in Veneto ( 29%). And as regards the more limited territorial dimension, the province/metropolitan city with the highest number of fields is Rome with 1,437 (385 clubs), followed by the Provinces of Milan with 439 fields (111 clubs), Turin with 329 fields (124 clubs ) and Naples 292 (133). Estimates speak of 100 thousand practitioners (those who play padel regularly) in Lombardy and around 45-50 thousand in the province of Milan alone. Numbers that speak for themselves.
