Premier League: One year stadium ban for storming or pyrotechnics

After several space storms in English football stadiums, the clubs of premier league agreed on minimum penalties for rule breakers.

Spectators who run onto the pitch or set off pyrotechnics will be banned from top-flight stadiums for at least a year, the Premier League announced after a September 21 meeting in London. The clubs agreed on that. If children or young people are involved, the penalty also applies to adults or accompanying persons. The regulation comes into effect immediately.

The English professional leagues had announced tougher penalties before the start of the season. Anyone who breaks the rules will be reported to the police, risk a criminal record and, in the worst case, even a prison sentence, as was announced at the time.

At the end of the pre-season in May there had been several storms. So were fans of Nottingham Forest rushed onto the field after her team qualified for the play-off final for promotion to the Premier League. A day later, fans of the Everton FC the place after their club managed to stay up. In both cases there were clashes with representatives of the opposing team.
