Premier League – Liverpool without a coach: Klopp’s representative suspected of corona

Liverpool (AP) – Liverpool FC is running out of staff. After coach Jürgen Klopp, his assistant and representative Pep Lijnders has now also tested positive for the corona virus, the club announced and canceled the planned press conference before the planned league cup game at Arsenal FC.

The 38-year-old Lijnders should stand on the sidelines at the cup match in London, as he did at the weekend away game against Chelsea (2-2), because Klopp is still isolating himself after a positive test result in the previous week. After the “suspected positive” test the day before, Lijnders has now also gone into isolation, it said.

The Dutchman was one of numerous suspected corona cases among players and employees who tested positive, the Reds said. Therefore the training was canceled.

Liverpool FC had already requested the EFL, which is responsible for the cup, to postpone the league cup semi-finals before Lijnders’ test result. The decision about this was initially open.
