South Korea’s soccer star Heung-Min Son has to undergo an operation on his face, and preparations for the World Cup in Qatar, which begins on November 20, have been severely disrupted.
The 30-year-old will have surgery to stabilize a fracture near his left eye, Sons club Tottenham Hotspur confirmed on Wednesday. South Korea will start the tournament against Uruguay on November 24th.
“After the operation, Son will begin rehabilitation with our medical staff,” Spurs said. Whether the offensive player Son will be fit for the finals in time remained open at first.
The former Bundesliga professional was injured in a serious collision in the Champions League game at Olympique Marseille (2-1) on Tuesday.
