Liverpool FC fixed it very late this time, but they fixed it again. The Premier League table leaders won 2-0 at Brentford FC thanks to two late goals from Darwin Nunez – and were even able to extend their lead over Arsenal FC.

In the first minute of added time, Liverpool’s striker from Uruguay used a low cross from Trent Alexander-Arnold to give the Reds the long-awaited lead, who had previously missed a number of chances. Two minutes later, Nunez also completed a counterattack to score the second goal, giving Liverpool a win again after two draws in the last two Premier League games.

Arsenal give up their two-goal lead against Aston Villa

In the table, Liverpool was now able to extend its lead over Arsenal FC with 50 points thanks to the last-minute win. The “Gunners” only managed a 2-2 draw against Aston Villa on Saturday evening, are second in the table with 44 points, but have already played one game more than Liverpool.

Gabriel Martinelli (35th minute) and national striker Kai Havertz (55th) ensured a supposedly comfortable 2-0 lead. But the “Gunners”, who had been completely superior until then, negligently allowed the guests to get back into the game, Youri Tielemans (60th) and Ollie Watkins (68th) equalized.

In the final phase, Arsenal pushed and were unlucky that Havertz’s supposedly second goal was conceded by VAR: Havertz had decisively deflected Mikel Merino’s shot, but apparently touched the ball with his arm.

Bournemouth dupes Newcastle

AFC Bournemouth had previously ended Newcastle’s winning streak. The fourth-place team, which had previously been successful nine times in a row, suffered a 4-1 defeat at home in St. James’ Park. The man of the day was Justin Kluivert, who almost single-handedly defeated the “Magpies” with his hat trick (6th minute, 44th, 90+2). Bruno Guimaraes had meanwhile equalized for Newcastle. Milos Kerkez (90+6) scored to make the final score 4-1.

The guests from Bournemouth climbed to sixth place for the time being and continued their winning streak in Newcastle: Andoni Iraola’s team remained unbeaten in the Premier League for the tenth game in a row.
