Premier League: Chelsea gamble away 2-0 lead – Watford FC are relegated

Lukaku double pack is not enough

Chelsea must continue to wait for a win in the Premier League. On the 36th day of play, the Blues did not go beyond a 2-2 (0-0) win against Wolverhampton Wanderers, although the Londoner had already led 2-0. But the two goals from record signing Romelu Lukaku (56th/58th), who scored in the league for the first time since the end of December, were not enough for coach Thomas Tuchel’s team. Francisco Trincão (79′) and Conor Coady in the seventh minute of injury time earned a point for the “Wolves”. This is Chelsea’s third game in a row without a win.

The Blues remain third in the table, but Arsenal have a chance to come within a point against Leeds United on Sunday. The game was also followed by Chelsea’s designated new owner, Todd Boehly, whose agreement with the club was announced on Friday night. Tuchel explained that this development is “good news”, but that the sales process must now be completed quickly. “It’s not a relief, but it gives us an outlook that the terms are agreed. Hopefully the process will be streamlined and moved forward as quickly as possible so we can act and no longer face sanctions.”

Premier League: Watford FC relegated after defeat at Crystal Palace

Meanwhile, Watford FC has to go straight into the second division. The “Hornets”, who finished second in the championship last year, lost 0-1 (0-1) at Crystal Palace after a penalty by Wilfried Zaha (31st). Roy Hodgson was relegated from the Premier League for the first time in his long coaching career. The 74-year-old recently announced that he would be returning to his well-deserved retirement in the summer. Norwich City has already been relegated.
