Postal and parcel deliverer PostNL expects to have to raise prices as a result of high inflation. As a result, the costs for the company have increased and consumers order fewer parcels. PostNL reports this during the presentation of the quarterly figures.

Gasoline prices are one of the drivers of skyrocketing inflation. PostNL also feels this when it comes to delivering parcels.

The company also notices that consumers are less likely to spend money due to price increases. As a result, the postal and parcel deliverer have to process fewer parcels.

PostNL tries to keep those higher costs within limits, but says that this must be accompanied by raising prices. “It is clear that these higher costs cannot only be compensated by improved efficiency and productivity. In the coming period, price adjustments in the e-commerce market will also be necessary,” said PostNL top person Herna Verhagen.

A spokesperson clarifies that these price adjustments only apply to the parcel part of PostNL. It is still unclear exactly what prices will rise.
