Complications after the omicron strain are accompanied by fewer symptoms than its predecessors, said Tatyana Ruzhentsova, deputy director for clinical work of the Moscow Research Institute of Epidemiology and Microbiology named after Gabrichevsky Rospotrebnadzor.
Post-COVID is easier, less often there are signs of thrombosis, cardiovascular and gastrointestinal disorders. Ruzhentsova suggested that this may be due to the presence of immunity in those infected with the omicron strain, their young age and the rapid onset of drug therapy, because symptoms appear faster than in the case of the delta strain. The expert also noted that those vaccinated are much less likely to have any consequences. The young do not have them at all, in the older age groups there are cough, asthenia, and a decrease in working capacity, reports TASS.
Earlier, the head of Rospotrebnadzor, Anna Popova, said that “omicron” become infected only 5% of people who have previously had COVID-19. The rest of those infected with the coronavirus did not get sick at all. In total, there are about 18.5 thousand cases of a new strain of coronavirus in Russia. Omicron is twice as infectious as virus flu. This explains its rapid spread.
