Laura Dahlmeier meets a rockfall at 5,700 meters. Your rope partner sees the misfortune – and can’t help. Now she describes the accident.

Laura Dahlmeier’s rope partner Marina Krauss has now commented on the course of the accident. Accordingly, the two climbers dropped the climb before reaching the summit at 5,700 meters. On the descent, Laura Dahlmeier was hit by the rockfall. “If we had been on it half an hour earlier, we would have come down,” said Krauss in a press round in the city of Skardu, as Bavarian Radio (BR24) reported.

The misfortune happened when abseiling. Laura Dahlmeier roped down as second. “I observed how the Laura hit a huge stone and how it was then thrown against the wall. From that moment she no longer moved,” said the climber, who was unharmed herself. It was not possible for her to get to the scene of the accident safely. The only way to help Laura was to call the helicopter.

“We knew that we would definitely do this technically that according to the weather forecast and when we just start at night that it is possible,” she said about the preparation. Nevertheless, they had decided to turn around on the mountain before reaching the summit.
