Popular song ‘I jump for NAC’ has a successor

The song ‘I jump for NAC’ by singer Evert van Huygevoort was a huge hit in Breda and the surrounding area in 2017. The song, made for the promotion of the Breda football club, has been viewed more than 1.5 million times on YouTube and played 4 million times via Spotify. Van Huygevoort hopes to match that success with his new song ‘Code yellow’: “But that will be quite difficult.”

In the stadium, at a party or in the pub. In the Breda region you always hear ‘I’m jumping for NAC’. The song, an NAC text to the melody of L’Amours Toujours by DJ D’Agostino, is still a big hit. “A lot of people still go crazy on that song,” says singer Evert van Huygevoort about that success. “I’m very proud of it.”

Yet it was time for him again for a new song about the Breda football club. And he now has it thanks to sports journalist and NAC supporter Joost Blauwhof. He wrote the song ‘Code yellow’, a new text about NAC on the song ‘Back in time’ by Yves Berendse.

“Code yellow stands for solidarity among NAC supporters.”

“I recently started making the podcast D’n Hoefcast with professional football player Ralf Seuntjens and we needed an intro for it. Because of Evert’s love for NAC and his friendship with Ralf, we quickly came to him to sing it. We started recording it and he has a nice NAC song that can also boost our podcast.”

The title ‘Code yellow’ is the magic word of the play-off competition at the end of the previous season in which NAC was promoted to the Eredivisie. It stands for solidarity among the supporters. “Code yellow was announced every time before the match,” says singer Evert. “Everyone formed one big front and they went the extra mile during the encouragement. Everyone came in yellow and when 20,000 people do that, there is something magical. I think it played a major role in the promotion. “

“I hope that it will be sang along en masse in the stands after the winter break.”

In addition to the play-offs and the subsequent promotion, the new NAC song is mainly about the recent successes. Under the leadership of trainer Carl Hoefkens, NAC is doing well in the Eredivisie. “Everything is positive and it was not very difficult to write a text,” says Joost Blauwhof. “I kept it nice and simple so that everyone at NAC can sing along.”

The new NAC song is already going well on YouTube and the players are also enthusiastic. “It’s a nice, catchy song and very appropriate for NAC’s situation,” says captain Jan van de Bergh. “It brings a certain atmosphere that is stimulating for us as a group of players. Let’s hope that ‘Code yellow’ has the same impact as Evert’s previous song.”

Of course, Van Huygevoort hopes so too. But the 1.5 million views on YouTube of ‘I jump for NAC’ will be difficult. “There is still a long way to go, haha,” Van Huygevoort concludes. “But I hope that it will be sung en masse in the stands after the winter break. That would be great!”
