Ponies also unsheltered in meadow on tropical day, police speak to owner

Despite the extreme heat and the strong sun, the ponies that caused concern on Monday in Teeffelen are still in the meadow on Tuesday. Police see no need to remove the animals at this time.

“The ponies were viewed today by our colleagues and they indicated that they look healthy, fit eyes and have sufficient drinking water,” a spokesperson said.

The police have now traced the owner of the meadow. “In view of the extreme weather conditions, we addressed him and pointed out his responsibility. The man indicated that he was taking measures and will realize them as soon as possible,” according to the police. Until then, agents will keep their finger on the pulse.

Concerned passers-by

A number of passers-by raised the alarm on Monday evening as the ponies had been standing in the hot sun for hours without water. When after several reports no action was taken, one of the passers-by went to get bottles of water for the animals himself. Eventually the police showed up in the evening, who went to find out we were the owner of the ponies.
