Police union angry about failing communication system in manhunt

Police union ACP is disappointed by a malfunctioning communication system during the manhunt for the robbers in Rijsbergen on Thursday evening. Due to the loss of connections on the so-called C2000 network, the agents were unable to communicate properly with each other.

“We have already made our concerns about C2000 known to the corps management, but now the measure is really full,” says ACP chairman Wim Groeneweg. “If you work with more than seventy people from different services, including Belgian colleagues, such as on Thursday evening in Rijsbergen, you must have reliable communication. Especially because we took into account that the robbers were potentially dangerous with firearms.”

Maarten Brink, ACP chairman Zeeland West-Brabant, tweeted that police officers had informed him about the failing communication network during the manhunt. “We are waiting for a serious incident. Time for action! This can’t go on any longer.”

During the police action, three suspects of a robbery at a gun shop in Nieuwmoer, Belgium, were arrested. After the robbery, the suspects fled to Rijsbergen in a car and were arrested there.
