In the tranquil heights of the Hollywood Hills, U2 singer Bono’s estate suddenly became the scene of a bloody incident. As the Los Angeles police confirmed, there was a stabbing between construction workers who were busy renovating the luxury property. The 65-year-old rock star himself was not in the house at the time of the crime.
The emergency services arrived at around 1:20 p.m. local time. In addition to several patrol cars, the fire department and rescue service also arrived. An ambulance was parked outside the property and a helicopter was circling over the area.
Investigators have so far remained silent about exactly what happened. What is certain, however, is that there were injuries and the police have opened an investigation into grievous bodily harm.
Luxury estate overlooking West Hollywood
The property in question sits on a hill with impressive views over Fairfax Avenue in West Hollywood. It is an architectural masterpiece with a triangular main house, a multi-story guest house and a long infinity pool. According to media reports, Bono had purchased the property as an investment and was planning extensive renovations before possibly wanting to sell it again.
The house was designed by renowned architect Noah Walker and developed by Plus Development Group – a company in which Tyrone McKillen, the son of Bono’s business partner Paddy McKillen, is involved. Together with him, Bono also runs a whiskey distillery in Ireland. Despite the spectacular location, the property is not officially listed, but similar properties from the same owner recently achieved sales prices in the high double-digit million range.
Bono and the connection to Hollywood
Bono has had a close relationship with the California music scene for years. After the Las Vegas performances in The Spherewhich ended in March 2024 and earned the band millions, the singer is said to have stayed on the West Coast more often. However, the house in Hollywood apparently did not serve as a residence for him, but rather as part of his real estate portfolio.
The musician, who has also made headlines in recent years for his autobiography “Stories of Surrender,” has not yet commented on the incident. Fans hope that the unexpected scandal surrounding his estate does not cast a shadow on his artistic projects. The investigation is ongoing. The police are asking witnesses to come forward.
