Police hunt with helicopter on man with ax in the center of Alkmaar

A man was walking around with an ax in the Alkmaar Singelpark tonight. The police launched a massive search in the center and a helicopter was also used.

A police spokesperson confirms this to NH Nieuws. Around five to eight a report came in to the police that someone had been threatened by a man with an axe. This was at the Munnikenbolwerk.

A major search was then launched, involving several cars. “The police were everywhere, in that direction of the park and there,” points an employee of a catering business along the Singel.

A helicopter was also hovering over Alkmaar for a long time. Ultimately, based on the description of the reporter, a man was arrested, according to the police.
