Police encounter men in blue overalls in case of wolf shot dead in the Veluwe: who are they? † Veluwe

Who are those two men who stood at the site just before the discovery of the wolf that had been shot to death on the Veluwe near Stroe? That’s what the police want to know now. Through the television program Search requested asked again that Tuesday evening for information about the case.

An earlier broadcast in November 2021, according to a police spokesperson, resulted in dozens of tips, including ‘very useful’. Following further investigation, the police are now looking for the two men, who were both wearing blue overalls and green wellies.

On Friday morning, October 1, last year, around a quarter to nine, they were near a white delivery van, probably a Volkswagen Caddy, and a grey-blue van with a wood-colored trailer for small livestock and ponies behind it.

More than an hour later, about ten o’clock, a passer-by found a dead wolf in a ditch on the Stroeërschoolweg near Stroe, near Barneveld. An investigation revealed that the animal had been shot. Expert Glenn Lelieveld of the Mammal Society assumes that it was deposited along the road. The wolf, named GW1490m, lived in and around the Planken Wambuis nature reserve near Ede.

Reward of 16,000 euros

The Fauna Protection previously offered a reward of 16,000 euros for the tip that leads to a breakthrough in the case. Because the wolf is a European protected animal, the police speak of a ‘serious crime’.

People who know which two men are wanted, or perhaps they are themselves, can contact the police via a special online tip form or call the so-called investigation hotline on 0800-6070. You can respond anonymously via 0800-7000. Information about the white van or the van with the trailer is also welcome.
