245 West Flemish people who called the police emergency number 101 last year received no answer. This is evident from figures provided by Minister of the Interior Bernard Quintin.
“People call 101 because their safety is acutely threatened. If you know that every day and a half there is a West Flemish person who cannot get a police officer on the phone, then I find that quite problematic,” explains MP Matti Vandemaele (Green).
