Five people were arrested near De Nieuwe Kolk in Assen by officers with guns drawn. The five appeared to be waving a firearm from a car.
The police drove several cars to the area of De Nieuwe Kolk on Weiersstraat. Officers then exited with guns drawn.
“That looks very exciting on a Friday afternoon in the center of Assen”, a police spokesperson realizes. “But that’s just the procedure if there is a possible firearm involved.”
The five have been arrested by the police. In the end, no firearm was found. “A chain,” says the spokesman. It appears that this object has been mistaken for a firearm.
