Police action A2 after threatening situation around John van den Heuvel | Inland

“It is true that there was an incident around Amsterdam this afternoon, in which my security officers followed a precautionary protocol and extra safety measures were taken,” Van den Heuvel said in a statement. “The police are investigating the incident and I have every confidence that this is being done properly.”

Van den Heuvel says he is doing well. “I am happy that my security officers are sharp and act appropriately.”

Around 13:00 hours, Rijkswaterstaat Traffic Information reported that the highway was closed in both directions between Breukelen and Maarssen. There would have been a chase going on from Amsterdam that ended on the A2. The National Police Unit has previously announced that it has arrested a person who was in a car. An arrest team and a police helicopter, among others, have been deployed in the action. The road was reopened around 3:30 p.m.

While the A2 was closed, the main building of the National Unit in Driebergen was given extra security. At the door stood officers with automatic firearms and bulletproof vests.
