During the investigation, the Marechaussee could not see that there was actually a drone in the air. The drone was also searched for, but it was not found. That is why a balloon is now assumed. That too was not found.

“Due to flight safety, it was decided to use the Zwanenburgbaan. This is a fixed procedure,” the Netherlands Air Traffic Control spokesperson told AT5. No flights have been delayed or canceled.

Reports of drones near Schiphol are more common. According to the spokesperson it was already the 22nd time this year.

The spokesperson informed ANP that it was “a small flying object.” A drone from a hobbyist is assumed.
