Poku gives coach Sierksma a nice farewell gift and Jong Ajax falls just short

Due to the dismissal of AZ coach Pascal Jansen, Jan Sierksma moves on to the Alkmaar main force. His Jong AZ team gave the young coach a nice farewell gift. Opponent FC Dordrecht was crushed 5-1. The big man was Ernest Poku with three hits. Young Ajax did a lot less well. The Amsterdam talents lost 0-1 to FC Groningen in front of their own audience.

With Ruben van Bommel, Jayden Addai, Ernest Poku and Mexx Meerdink, Jong AZ had a dangerous attacking line. This was also evident at the training complex in Wijdewormer. Within seven minutes, Ernest Poku had his first shot of the evening. The fast attacker has not yet scored a competition goal for AZ 1, but he did very well on Monday evening at a lower level. Poku scored the other two goals in the second half.

Van Bommel and Meerdink were also accurate against FC Dordrecht. The goal by the blonde striker from the Achterhoek was especially beautiful. After a nice attack, Meerdink shot the ball stiffly into the intersection. Leeroy Echteld also saw all this from the stands. The new coach of Jong AZ will face the group for the first time tomorrow.

With the win, AZ is now in eleventh place in the first division and is therefore the highest ranked promising team.

Jong AZ line-up: Kuijsten, Esteves (Van Aken/69), Goes, Schouten (Dekkers/69), Stam; Smit (Mastoras/78), Kwakman, Meerdink; Addai (Kewal/78), Poku, Van Bommel

Young Ajax

With Anton Gaaei and Silvano Vos in the starting line-up, Jong Ajax did nothing wrong against the number six in the rankings. Only FC Groningen is in excellent form. The Northerners have been undefeated for ten matches in a row.

Visitors also quickly took control at De Toekomst sports park. After seventeen minutes, Thom van Bergen hit the underside of the crossbar, 0-1. The initiative remained with FC Groningen in the first half. After the break the game pattern changed drastically. The young Ajax players determined the game, but the right finishing was lacking. Anass Salah-Eddine had a nice shooting opportunity, but the left back’s effort went wide. And so the points went to Groningen.

After 22 matches, Jong Ajax is in fifteenth place. Next Monday, Dave Vos’ team will host FC Dordrecht at home.

Line-up Young Ajax: DeGraaff; Gaaei (Vink/46), Aertssen, Kaplan, Salah-Eddine; Vos (Brandes/46), Misehouy, Fitz-Jim; Sarfo, Kalokoh (Gorter/74), Banel
