Pogba leaves Manchester United – back to Juve? – Premier League – Football

The 29-year-old will not extend his expiring contract, the club said and thanked the midfielder for his commitment.

Where Pogba is headed is not yet clear. Recently there have been rumors of a return to the Italian top club Juventus Turin. Dutchman Frenkie de Jong from FC Barcelona is under discussion as his successor.

Expensive return not paid for

Pogba, who first joined United as a youth player aged 16, moved from Manchester to Turin on a free transfer in 2012. Four years later, the English paid the then record transfer fee of 105 million euros for the returnee. Now the Frenchman is leaving the club again for free.

Pogba’s second spell at Manchester has been marred by injuries. He played 27 games that season. In all, he made 233 appearances for United. Most recently, this was the case in April in an away defeat at Liverpool FC, when he had to be replaced after just ten minutes with an injury.
