Cycling superstar Tadej Pogacar continues to dominate the Tour de Romandie in Switzerland. Fourth place on the third stage was enough for the 27-year-old Slovenian to defend the overall leader’s yellow jersey from German Florian Lipowitz.

The Frenchman Dorian Godon secured the day’s victory after 176.6 kilometers with start and finish in Orbe in a sprint ahead of Finn Fisher-Black from New Zealand and the Frenchman Valentin Paret-Peintre. In the overall standings, Pogacar continues to lead by 17 seconds over the 25-year-old Lipowitz. The four-time Tour de France winner Pogacar has already celebrated two stage victories at the Tour de Romandie.

Steinhauser was in the breakaway group for a long time

German professional Georg Steinhauser showed a strong performance. The 24-year-old, who surprised with third place in the Paris-Nice long-distance cycle ride in mid-March, was active in a breakaway group of seven for a long time. Steinhauser was only caught by the field just three kilometers before the finish.

On Saturday the riders have a challenging mountain stage on the agenda. The fourth part of the day leads over 149.6 kilometers and 3,175 meters in altitude from Broc to Charmey. The peloton has to cross the Jaun Pass, which is at an altitude of 1,508 meters, three times. The Tour de Romandie ends on Sunday in Leysin.
