Inge Zwerver from Onderdendam won the AMAI Award 2022 on Saturday for the best Dutch poem by a poet on Instagram of the past year. Zwerver won the audience award.

Voters could choose from a long list, which was established by a jury of experts. AMAI stands for Alle Monden Award Instagram and is a national initiative of the inspirational collective ‘Alle Monden’.

The election was created to bring the many online poets and quotes on Instagram to the attention of an even larger audience. The award ceremony took place in Theater De Fransche School in Culemborg. Seven awards were presented in different categories. Due to personal circumstances, Zwerver was unable to attend the award ceremony, but the prize was presented to her personally at home.

Zwerver is a Groningen poet. Under the name Wadwicht and inspired by the Groningen countryside and the Wadden area, she writes accessible and clear poems and texts. Zwerver has previously published two collections of poetry. Zwerver calls winning the award ‘a national recognition’. “I am happy with the fact that my loyal supporters have voted en masse for my poem.
