“Football is more than trophies. Football is passion and improvement, and if you don’t win it doesn’t mean you are a loser.” Lukas Podolski, a 39 -year -old striker who in 2014 raised the World Cup with Germany and dressed important shirts such as Bayern Munich, Arsenal and Inter, thus describes his relationship with football. In the new Podcast video of Sofascore, “a guest and a half”, spoke of many aspects that made him one of the most important players of his generation. The format is partially based on the story of the protagonist’s career but above all on various quizzes in which for example he will have to associate a feature of various football characters or give judgments on his skills.

Arsenal

From his words the team to which he remains most linked seems to be the Arsenal with whom he played from 2012 to 2015. Of his adventure in London, Podolski above all remembers the link with Wenger and Arte, at the time coach and captain Deli Gunners: “Arsène was more than a coach, he was a good person inside and off the pitch. I improved a lot thanks to him and had a great impact on my career”. Podolski still cheers for the red and white and for his former partner Arte who fights for the premier: “Mikel was severe, but it was normal because he was the captain. He often remained after training and talked to Arsène Wenger. He is doing an extraordinary job, he is his first assignment and I want him to win the Premier League. “

Japan

The attacker defends the choice he made in 2017, to move to Japan to the Vissel Kobe: “I consider him one of the most important championships in Asia. The fans were fantastic, they were not explosives as in Turkey, Poland and Japan but sang for 90 minutes and my family lived very well there”.

Bayern Munich

Of the experience at Bayern, in which he played from 2006 to 2009, he above all recalls the winning mentality of the club: “It was lucky to play there, you had to always want to win, whether it was the Champions League or an otherwise you were not a player from Bayern Munich”.

Ronaldo the phenomenon

Among the various games that was the protagonist during the interview, Podolski gives an average vote of 8.5 as a footballer after commenting with a judgment from 1 to 10 various games of the game as a technique, shooting, speed etc. The best, however, at least for him, remains Ronaldo the phenomenon: “When he played Barcelona and then he went to Inter it was fantastic. He had speed and technique combined with maximum power, never seen such a thing before. In a challenge between Germany and Brazil we exchanged the shirt and he signed it to me, I framed it and hung it at home”.
