Musician Joel Hokka describes Radio City Salla Ahtola in the interview feeling relaxed and lighter than before.
Hokka left the Blind Channel band in April 2024. On Tuesday, November 11, Hokka announced that he had founded the Hokka band together with Pauli Rantasalmi and Jimi Aslak too with.
– That kind of squeezing of the racket is completely missing, Hokka says at the beginning of the interview.
Host Ahtola asks Hoka why he wanted to start a new band so soon after leaving Blind Channel.
Hokka said in the spring of 2024 that one of the reasons for leaving was health concerns and especially constant sleep problems.
– The previous band activities represented nausea for me. I felt like I had become the marketing guy of choice in that band. I was no longer an artist and no longer free. I wasn’t feeling well. It had become that we just try to “stop” this one parliament song in any way we can and we will do everything we can to get it stopped, Hokka begins.
– It’s a self-eating function. Yes, the boys also wanted to play different games than me. You have to admit that. That separation was not easy. In that, I had to go through a terrible journey of reflection with myself, looking in the mirror: Who am I, what am I really? he continues.

Hokka realized during his break that he wants to both be well and make music.
– In terms of the future, I know what kind of gigs and what kind of touring and other things are good to keep things in balance, says Hokka.
Hokka hosts on the Radiorock channel Kasari vs. Nollari radio program together with Sami Kuronen.
– Yes, I’m still going to host a radio show on a rival channel and paint a couple of paintings. Life is more than rock ‘n’ roll, he concludes.
