A few weeks before his surprising death, Xatar spoke openly about dying, responsibility and fears in the podcast with Kurt Krömer. On Thursday (May 8th) he was found dead in a Cologne apartment.
Was it just a coincidence – or could he possibly make a premonition?
The rapper, who was called Giwar Hajabi with a bourgeois name, was 43 years old. In the “Feelings” podcast with Kurt Krömer, he explained that he was afraidat a time to die when his children still need him. The feeling of not being prepared is also going to drive him around. The episode appeared on April 2.
“It would be shit now,” said Xatar subsequently. And further: “I always think: can happen at any moment. Have I now organized everything well enough?”
In retrospect, the conversation looks almost prophetic. Kurt Krömer was also visibly affected after the death of death and on Friday (May 9th) shared a photo together on Instagram with the words “May his soul rest in peace.”
Investigations: apartment belongs
As is now known, Xatar’s body was discovered in an apartment in Cologne around 6:30 p.m. So the rapper did not die in the house, which he lived in with his wife Farvah Heidari and her five children together, but apparently in a property that belongs to a business partner. The Cologne public prosecutor’s office has initiated a death investigation.
According to the prosecutor Ulrich Bremer, no external injuries could be found in the autopsy. A chemical-toxicological report is now to clarify what the rapper died of. The evaluation can take several weeks.
From the gold robbery to the celebrated film hero
Xatar’s life was undoubtedly worth being filmed. In 2009 he was sentenced to a gold transporter in Bonn as a mastermind of a robbery. The prey: around 1.8 million euros in jewelry and tooth gold. In 2014 he was released prematurely after five years in prison. In 2022, “Rheingold” came into cinemas with “Rheingold”, directed by Fatih Akin.
But recently not everything went smoothly: in 2024 his label had to register everything or nothing Records bankruptcy. Familiaries reported increasing exhaustion, physical degradation and personal pressure. As early as 2021, Xatar had to deal with health. A supposedly harmless gum inflammation turned out to be a life -threatening state, the rapper said at the time: “The doctors saved my life.”
