For the long-term effects of a corona infection, the terms have changed Long Covid Syndrome and Post Covid Syndrome established. So far, there is no unanimous, generally accepted definition of this. According to the WHO, the symptoms must appear within three months of infection, last at least two months and cannot be explained by another diagnosis. Common symptoms are exhaustion, shortness of breath and cognitive impairment. According to the WHO, they can occur right from the start or only after the acute stage of the corona infection.
The British National Institute for Health and Care Excellence distinguishes: Long Covid – So complaints that last at least four weeks and post covid, so Symptoms that persist at least twelve weeks after infection. Many experts, also in Germany, follow this.
