The Russian tennis pro Andrey Rublev sent a signal for peace in Ukraine at the ATP tournament in Dubai after reaching the final on Friday.
The 24-year-old wrote the message ‘No war please’ on a TV camera lens after beating Hubert Hurkacz (Poland) 3-6 7-5 7-6 (7-5).
With regard to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, the world number seven had already told reporters in Dubai on Thursday: “You realize how important it is to have peace in the world and to respect each other no matter what happens and to be united. “
In the final, Rublev meets Jiri Vesely (Czech Republic) or Denis Shapovalov (Canada/No. 6).
