Schwenningen against Cologne

As of: March 29, 2026 • 6:09 p.m

The Schwenninger Wild Wings also lost game three of the playoff series against the Kölner Haie. This means that the Black Forest team is on the verge of extinction.

Even a lightning start for the Wild Wings wasn’t enough – the Schwenningen team had to admit defeat in the end with 2:4 (1:1, 0:0, 1:3). After the early Wild Wings lead by Kyle Platzer (1st minute), Dominik Bokk equalized for the Kölner Haie in the 5th minute. In the third period, Brady Austin (45th) and Tanner Kero (46th) decided the game with their goals. Tyson Spink’s penalty goal to make it 2-3 (49′) wasn’t enough to turn things around; instead, Maximilian Kammerer scored with an empty net goal 13 seconds before the end to make the final score.

Lightning start for the Wild Wings

The puck had barely touched the ice before it was in the goal. Only 43 seconds had been played when Kyle Platzer’s opening goal caused the first wild wings to celebrate in the home arena. After two defeats at the start After the playoff series against the Kölner Haie, hope returned to the Black Forest, at least in the short term. After a rebound from Haie goalie Janne Juvonen, Platzer showed himself to be more responsive than the Cologne defense – the disc hit the bottom right to make it 1-0.

However, just a short time later, the guests from Cologne dampened Schwenningen’s mood again. Dominik Bokk took advantage of a turnover by the hosts in the 5th minute and equalized 1-1 after a precise pass from Parker Tuomie. As in the previous games, the game developed into an intense game in which neither side held back. But at first there was no chance of a goal being scored. So it went into the third break 1-1.

Wild Wings push for the lead

The second third also remained competitive. The Schwenninger Wild Wings gained more and more initiative against Cologne, who were concerned about safety, and pushed for the opening goal, but Platzer was denied by the strong Juvonen (25th). Three minutes later, Frederik Storm narrowly missed taking the lead on the other side – defender Niklas Hübner was just able to scrape the puck off the line (28th). Because Boaz Bassen couldn’t get past Juvonen in the 34th minute after a strong solo run, Dominik Bokk for Cologne couldn’t take his chance (37th) and Eric Martinsson only hit the post for the Wild Wings (40th), the score remained 1-1 after the second third.

In the third round, one minute was enough for the favorite from Cologne to decide the game. After Tuomie shifted to the side, the disc landed at Austin, who scored from close range to make it 2-1 (45th). Just a minute later, Kero went one better with his goal to make it 3-1 (46′). But the Wild Wings didn’t give up and scored in the 49th minute: Tyson Spink scored with a penalty and reduced the score to 2:3 from the home side’s perspective. In the final minutes, the Wild Wings fought vehemently against the defeat, but the Schwenningen team was no longer able to equalize. Instead, Cologne took advantage of Schwenninger’s puck loss 13 seconds before the end – Kammerer hit the empty goal (60th). Schwenningen had taken out the goalkeeper for the final offensive.

Wild Wings doomed to win against Kölner Haie

The game ended 2:4. This makes it 3-0 for the Kölner Haie in the quarter-final series. Due to the defeat, the Schwenninger Wild Wings already have their backs against the wall. In the best-of-seven series, the Kölner Haie only need one win to advance to the semi-finals. Schwenningen has to win the away game in Cologne next Tuesday (March 31st) to avoid elimination.
