The Adler Mannheim played three in the quarter-final series of the DEL playoffs. The Kurpfälzer lost 2: 5 in their own hall against EHC Munich.

After the bitter 2: 5 defeat in the second game of the best-of-Seven series against EHC Munich from last Wednesday, the Adler cracks had hoped for reparation. In front of 13,600 spectators in a home backdrop, the leadership in the quarter -final series was to be restored in game three. But the game started very unfavorably for the Adler Mannheim. After 54 seconds, the puck was in the Mannheim housing for the first time: After a ball conquest on his own blue line, ex-mannheimer Markus Eisenschmid marked the 1-0 for the guests from Munich.

Just five minutes later it was already 2-0 for the EHC. The Munich people used a power play in the person of Yasin Ehliz ice cold. A clear start for the Adler Mannheim, which, however, did not open, but came to opportunities. After 14 minutes played, the home side then rewarded themselves for their own commitment, Tom Kühnhackl scored the 1-2 goal.

Mannheimer shoots, Munich meets

However, the joy over the gate lasted only briefly. Just two minutes later, Chris Desousa restored the old distance with his goal to 3-1 for Munich. Bitter for the Mannheimers, who had already shot on the opposing goal twice as often as the guests (12: 6). Even in the remaining minutes of the first third, Mannheim remained the more active team, but gates no longer wanted to fall. So it went 3-1 for Munich into the cabin.

The second third began. From the Mannheim offensive urge, it was now less noticeable that both teams seemed to want to avoid risk at first. So it took up to half of the second third before Mannheim came back to significant offensive campaigns. But neither Leon Gawanke (30th minute) nor John Gilmour (33rd) were able to take their chances. Instead, Yasin Ehliz cheered for EHC Munich shortly afterwards. Once again, the Munich team took out a power play ice cold – 4-1 we went into the third break.

EHC Munich wins earned

In the course of the third third, the fact that the 4: 1 goal was the preliminary decision. The Adler Mannheim seemed to be with their heads at play four, the EHC Munich took control and even went one better in the 42nd minute: Tobias Rieder used another overpowering game to 5: 1. Shortly afterwards, Hirose could have increased to 6-1, but Adler keeper Arno Tiefensee parried strongly.

Nobody believed in a Mannheim chase anymore, instead the Mannheim frustration was discharged in several fist fights. Shortly before the end, the eagles came to another goal: Leon Gawanke shortened to 2: 5 from the point of view of the Mannheimer (56th). Excitement no longer occurred. Instead, the game ended with further fist struggles on the ice and a deserved 5: 2 success of the EHC Munich, who thus won the second game in the third game of the quarter-final series. Play four is already on Sunday. Then the Adler Mannheim have to go away in Munich at 7 p.m.
