A number of VV Gestel players were sent away on Sunday during the football match against RKVV Dommelen because they have misbehaved. In a statement, the VV Gestel board announced on Thursday that they ‘have had a bad Sunday’ and want to improve their bad image.
It got out of hand on the field on Sunday just before the end of the game. Henny Noyen of vv Gestel killed Igor Smit van Dommelen from behind and got a red card for that, it writes Eindhovens Dagblad.
When Noyen walked away, he spit a Dommelen player in the face. Tom de Bie van Dommelen then got some blows from a Gestel player. The match was therefore stopped by the referee.

The board came up with a statement on Thursday. “Every football fan from the Eindhoven area knows that VV Gestel has not built a good name in the past,” it says. “Nobody really knows this better than the board of VV Gestel itself and we do everything we can to change this.”
VV Gestel started a new route a few years ago with the help of the KNVB and the municipality of Eindhoven. “There is now a confidential adviser and a norms & values committee that are on top of when something happens, because there is one Zero Tolerance policy. “
After last Sunday’s hassle, the board intervened. “Our competition leader has already had contact with the trainer Van Dommelen and will again apologize and give a gift for the affected player.”
Television program offside
It is not the first time there is hommeles at VV Gestel. Nine years ago the television program Buitenspel came to the club to talk about their bad name. Gestel players would then have said that they would have preferred to put presenter Sophie Hilbrand on her mouth. “
