Plans for ‘pipe line’ have been shelved again: “Turning around the pot is frustrating. It’s our damn life’s work that’s at stake.”

Once again, the plans for an underground ‘pipeline’ between the port of Antwerp and the German Ruhr area are being pushed forward. At the earliest next year there will be a new start note and subsequent consultation round. “We are in danger of losing what we have worked day and night for. Every day you expect a letter in the bus that provides clarity, and it never arrives,” says local resident Christel Vertommen.
